Player of the Team Kazakhstan Academy Hits the TOP-50 of ITF Juniors Ranking

Following the results of 2017, Kazakhstani tennis player Dostanbek Tashbulatov entered the TOP-50 of the world’s tennis players based on the ITF Juniors ranking and will participate in the Australian Open Junior Championship in 2018. Until recently, the 17-year-old tennis player ranked only 118th and today the player of the Team Kazakhstan Academy dreams of playing for the country in the Davis Cup tournaments.

Along with the breakthrough of Kazakhstani tennis players into the quarterfinals of the Davis Cup, these are the first fruits of the tremendous work carried out over the past 10 years by the Tennis Federation of Kazakhstan under the leadership of its President Bulat Utemuratov. And it is possible that exactly Tashbulatov will become the first Kazakhstan champion with skills acquired within the walls of the national tennis school.

It is noteworthy that the president of the federation monitors the achievements of all tennis players in Kazakhstan and provides them with financial support. However, it is even more important that over the past decade tennis has become an available and popular sport in the country. In each administrative center of Kazakhstan there is a tennis center and all necessary infrastructure, while the number of courts around the country tripled.

"This is the minimum that we needed to achieve. However, this is not enough. For example, in Astana far from every kid at the age of 6 can join tennis classes. There are too many of those who wish to play tennis, and the federation selects the most talented children," Bulat Utemuratov told in his interview.

The president of the federation believes that tennis should be both affordable and accessible. Therefore, the new tennis center in Almaty is built in the Mamyr bedroom suburb. There are 4 indoor and 6 outdoor courts, a gym and a cafeteria. The cost of the project is $5 million, and the amount was allocated by the KTF president from his own funds.

In Aktobe, the second tennis center will be built next year. In Shymkent, the construction of 2 courts, a hotel and a gym is in progress. 14 additional courts will be built in Astana. And according to the president of the federation, this is the beginning of the second stage of tennis infrastructure development in the country.
